The field itself

This is San Antonio's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Stinson Municipal Airport Runway Diagram Print

Stinson Municipal (SSF) has two runways, and the print shows both of them crossing well off center. Runway 10/28 runs 5,000 feet on a shallow angle across the sheet, and 14/32 comes down at a steeper diagonal to meet it near the 28 threshold, so the pair opens westward like a narrow, lopsided X. Both strips are 100 feet wide and asphalt, which is why they read as two even black bars rather than one dominant line and one afterthought.

The second runway, 14/32, is 4,128 feet long, close enough to the first that neither one wins the composition. That balance is what makes this field work as artwork: the crossing point pulls your eye to the lower right, while the taxiway spine, the apron and the ramp buildings sit as a lighter gray mass along the northeast side, giving the black geometry something to lean against. The field elevation, 578 feet, is set in the corner block under the identifier along with the coordinates.

It is a compact field and the print stays honest about that, with a lot of open ground around the runway ends and no clutter invented to fill it. Threshold numbers 10, 28, 14 and 32 are set into the ends of the bars, small and readable from across a room. Depending on the colorway you choose, the same layout can sit quiet or read graphic, and it groups well on a wall with other Texas fields such as New Braunfels or Austin.

San Antonio (SSF) print, common questions

How many runways does Stinson Municipal have, and how long are they?

Two. Runway 10/28 is 5,000 feet long and runway 14/32 is 4,128 feet long. Both are 100 feet wide with asphalt surfaces, and both appear on the print with their threshold numbers.

Where is SSF and how high is the field?

SSF is in San Antonio, Texas, at a field elevation of 578 feet. The coordinates, 29.3370 N and 98.4710 W, are printed in the corner block beneath the identifier.

What does SSF stand for?

SSF is the three-letter identifier assigned to Stinson Municipal, and it is the code set in large type on the print. The city and state line sits directly under it, so the piece reads clearly even to someone who does not know the code.

How accurate is the layout?

The drawing follows published runway data for Stinson Municipal: two runways at their published lengths, widths and relative angles, plus the taxiways and apron outlines around them. It is a design piece first, so fine details may be simplified or omitted. Pavement markings, lighting and minor structures are the usual cases.

What sizes and finishes can I get?

The artwork is offered as a Fine Art Print, a Framed Fine Art Print, a Glossy Metal Print and a Digital Download, in a range of sizes. Physical pieces are made to order in the colorway and format you select; the digital option is a file you download.

Is this a good gift for a pilot who flies out of Stinson?

Yes, especially for anyone who learned or based an aircraft here, because the crossing runway pair is recognizable at a glance to people who have used the field. It also suits an office wall for someone with a San Antonio connection rather than a flying one.
