Is the diagram accurate to the real airport?

We use published airport information and available field depictions as source material, then turn the field’s recognizable layout into original wall art. Source material and airport layouts can change, and fine details may be simplified. AirportPrints maps are decorative and not for navigation.

What sizes and finishes are available?

Fine Art Prints, Framed Fine Art Prints and Glossy Metal Prints come in 8 by 10, 16 by 20, and 24 by 30 inches. For framed pieces, the listed size measures the mat and acrylic area inside the frame. A Digital Download is also available.

What colorways can I choose?

Seven for every airport: white, black, navy, sand, blueprint, night ops, and hi-viz, so the print suits the room as well as the story.

How are the prints made?

Our paper prints use pigment giclée printing on heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper. It is acid-free and archival-grade, with a smooth matte surface for rich color and fine detail. The same paper is used in our framed prints. Metal prints transfer the image into coated aluminum by dye sublimation.

What is the difference between the finishes?

Fine Art Prints are supplied unframed, ready for your own frame. Framed Fine Art Prints include solid wood framing, a beveled white mat, clear acrylic and installed hanging wire. Glossy Metal Prints have a hidden inset mount for a floating effect. Digital Downloads are JPEG files delivered by email.

What is included with a framed print?

The fine art print, solid wood frame, white acid-free 4-ply mat with a 45-degree bevel, optical-grade clear acrylic, foam-core mounting, kraft paper backing and installed hanging wire are included. Choose black, white or natural oak finish. The frame face is 1.25 inches wide.

How do framed sizes work?

The listed size measures the mat and acrylic area inside the frame: 8 by 10, 16 by 20, or 24 by 30 inches. The mat sits within that area, so the visible artwork is approximately 6 by 8, 12 by 16, or 18 by 24 inches. The outside frame is larger than the listed size.

How is the metal print different?

Metal gives the artwork a glossy finish and vivid color. The image is transferred into coated aluminum by dye sublimation, and the hidden inset mount positions the panel about 3/4 inch off the wall. The surface resists scratches and water. During sublimation, 1/8 to 1/4 inch of the artwork may be cropped. Display it indoors, away from direct sunlight.

What file do I receive with a Digital Download?

The Digital Download is a JPEG at 300 dpi, sized for 24 by 30 inches. The digital add-on matches the selected physical print size at 300 dpi. Download links arrive by email and stay active for 30 days; save the file within that time and keep it for personal, non-commercial use. No physical item is shipped.

Does it arrive ready to hang?

Framed prints arrive with hanging wire installed. Metal prints include a hidden inset mount. Unframed fine art prints are ready for your own frame. Choose wall fixings suited to your wall and the weight of your piece.

How should I care for it?

Display prints away from direct sunlight. Handle paper carefully and protect it in a frame. Gently dust acrylic and metal with a clean, soft cloth. Follow the care guidance for your finish, and avoid abrasive cleaners.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Standard US shipping is free on physical prints, which are made to order in 2 to 3 business days, with delivery time added on top. Digital Downloads are delivered by email, with no physical shipment. Express shipping is calculated for your order and destination and shown before payment. Full detail is on the shipping and returns page.

What is your return policy?

Return any physical print within 30 days of delivery for a full money-back refund, for any reason. If it arrives damaged, send a photo and we will refund you in full right away, and you are welcome to reorder anytime. Digital downloads are non-refundable once delivered, except where required by law or where AirportPrints determines that a delivery failure or technical issue was caused by AirportPrints.

What is an airport diagram?

It is an overhead map of a field's runways and taxiways, drawn to scale, like the official charts published for pilots, with each runway labeled by its compass heading. Our guide to reading an airport diagram walks through the numbering, the markings, and why each field looks the way it does.

Why are runways numbered the way they are?

A runway's number is its magnetic compass heading rounded to the nearest ten, with the last zero dropped, so a runway pointing roughly 280 degrees is runway 28. The same strip read from the other end is 180 degrees apart, which is why runways carry two numbers. The diagram guide explains the rest.
