Description

A runway diagram map print of San Diego International Airport (SAN), made from the airport's own layout for the place it holds in your life. Choose your colorway and your format: a fine art giclée print on cotton paper, a framed fine art print, a glossy metal print or a digital download.

The field itself

This is San Diego's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

San Diego International Airport Runway Diagram Print

San Diego International runs all of its traffic on one runway, and the diagram makes that plain: a single strip, designated 09/27, cutting straight across the field with the 9 marker at one end and the 27 marker at the other. It measures 9,401 feet long and 200 feet wide. Our print plots that lone runway to scale from the airport's actual layout, a clean diagonal line set against the ranked bays of terminal and taxiway that crowd in beside it.

The field sits just 17 feet above the water, three miles northwest of downtown San Diego, on a compact 663-acre site wedged against the bay. That tight footprint shows in the drawing: the runway and its full-length taxiway take up nearly the whole frame, with the terminals packed close along one side. Approaches here are well known among pilots for threading past the downtown skyscrapers and dropping steeply over Bankers Hill.

The airport opened in 1928 as Lindbergh Field, named for Charles Lindbergh, whose Spirit of St. Louis was built nearby before his 1927 transatlantic flight; it took the San Diego International name in 2003. Printed against the ground tone you choose, the runway's single decisive line is composed from published airport information and available field depictions as clean graphic design for anyone who knows that unmistakable approach over the city. For a regional set, consider the San Francisco field as a companion piece.

San Diego (SAN) print, common questions

How many runways does San Diego International have?

One.

What is San Diego International's airport code?

The IATA code is SAN and the ICAO code is KSAN. The airport was known as Lindbergh Field until it was renamed in 2003.

How high is the airport above sea level?

17 feet. The field sits close to San Diego Bay, about three miles northwest of downtown.

How does the SAN print relate to the airport's layout?

Published airport information and available field depictions guide the SAN composition, including the runway designators and relative geometry. It is original wall art, so fine details may be simplified or omitted.

What sizes are available?

The print comes in a range of sizes and finishes, made to order and shipped free within the US. You choose the size and the ground tone that suits your wall.

Would this make a good gift for a pilot or frequent flyer?

Yes. Anyone who has flown SAN's steep approach past the downtown towers tends to recognize the layout at a glance, and a single-runway diagram makes a clean, specific keepsake.
