The field itself

This is Ogdensburg's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Ogdensburg International Airport Runway Diagram Print

Ogdensburg International works from a single runway, 9/27, 6,400 feet long and 150 feet wide, asphalt. On the sheet that becomes one dark bar running on a diagonal from the lower left up to the right, with the numbers 9 at the west end and 27 at the east end set into the pavement itself. There is no crossing strip and no second angle to complicate it, which is the whole appeal: a small field reads as one confident line across a lot of quiet paper.

A pale taxiway runs alongside the runway on the north side, tied back to it by short connectors, and the pavement gathers at the west end into apron and building shapes below the 9 threshold. Published airport information guides the relative runway geometry, so the tilt of the diagonal and the gap between strip and taxiway come from the source data rather than from a stylized guess. The rest of the sheet is margin, with the identifier, the city, the coordinates and the 302 foot field elevation stacked in the lower right corner.

The field sits in the town of Oswegatchie, about 2 miles southeast of Ogdensburg in St. Lawrence County, and it is close enough to the border that it lies 60 miles south of downtown Ottawa. Airline flights began here in 1957, and the runway was lengthened to 6,400 feet in 2016, which is the length the diagram carries today. Ogdensburg is one of a handful of northern New York fields that aim at Canadian travellers, along with Watertown and Plattsburgh, so the three of them hang together nicely if you want more than one frame on the wall.

Ogdensburg (OGS) print, common questions

How many runways does Ogdensburg International have?

One. Runway 9/27 is 6,400 feet by 150 feet, asphalt, and it is the only strip on the print. It reads as a single diagonal bar with a taxiway running alongside it.

How long is the runway at OGS?

6,400 feet long and 150 feet wide. It was lengthened to that 6,400 foot figure in 2016, so the proportions you see on the print reflect the longer strip rather than the shorter one that came before it.

What is OGS and where is it?

OGS is the identifier for Ogdensburg International in Ogdensburg, New York. The airport is in the town of Oswegatchie, roughly 2 miles southeast of the city, at a field elevation of 302 feet. The coordinates are printed in the corner block.

How closely does the print follow the published layout?

The runway and taxiway are drawn to scale from published airport information for the field, so the single diagonal strip and its parallel taxiway sit where the source data puts them. Fine details may be simplified or omitted: markings, lighting, signage and the smaller edges of pavement are left out so the sheet works as a print from across a room.

What sizes can I get?

It comes in a range of standard wall sizes and in whichever colorway you choose, printed to order. Larger sizes give the long diagonal more room to breathe, which suits this layout, and shipping within the US is free.

Does it work as a gift for someone with a connection to Ogdensburg?

Yes. It is a quiet, specific object: pilots, flight club members, north country locals and anyone who has flown in and out of the St. Lawrence Valley tend to recognize the shape of this field at a glance.
