Fine Art Print: 8 x 10, 16 x 20, and 24 x 30 inches.

Made like something you keep.

The field itself

This is Watertown's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Watertown International Airport Runway Diagram Print

Watertown International lands on the wall as a lopsided X. Two asphalt runways carry the whole composition: 10/28 at 7,001 by 150 feet, and 7/25 at 4,999 by 150 feet. In the print, 10/28 runs nearly edge to edge across the sheet, tipped just off level, while 7/25 climbs from the lower left corner toward the upper right and cuts the long runway well left of center. That off-center crossing is what keeps the image from feeling like a symbol. It looks like a place that grew, because it did.

The field sits west of the city in the Town of Hounsfield, Jefferson County, on land the city of Watertown bought in 1927 for an airport that opened in 1929. Runway 10/28 was lengthened over time and opened at its current length in 2016, which is why the long strip so clearly outruns the short one on the page. The shorter runway is not an afterthought either: 7 carries an instrument landing system and a medium-intensity approach lighting system with runway alignment indicator lights, so both strips earn their black.

Everything else on the sheet is quieter and gray. The taxiway system loops out from the crossing into a long kite shape that hangs below the runways, wider and stranger than most northern fields manage, and the apron and buildings cluster tight at the upper left. Held at arm's length the print reads as pure geometry; up close it reads as a working airfield with 331 feet of elevation printed under the identifier. Hung as a pair with a straighter field like Syracuse, or with the diagram from Ogdensburg up on the river, the crooked X here is the one that starts conversations. The colorway you choose sets the mood, from bright and graphic to something closer to a chart at night.

Watertown (ART) print, common questions

How many runways does Watertown International have, and does the print show both?

Two, and both are drawn. Runway 10/28 measures 7,001 by 150 feet and runway 07/25 measures 4,999 by 150 feet, each asphalt. In the print they meet as an X, with the crossing point set left of the sheet's center.

How long is the longest runway at ART?

7,001 feet, at 150 feet wide. That is runway 10/28, the near-horizontal strip that runs almost the full width of the composition.

What is the field elevation at ART?

331 feet. The number is printed in the lower block of the sheet along with the coordinates, 43.9918 N and 76.0194 W.

Where is ART, and what does the code stand for?

ART is the identifier for Watertown International in Watertown, New York, and it is also what the print puts in large type at the bottom. The field itself lies west of the city in the Town of Hounsfield, Jefferson County. The runway numbers come from magnetic headings rounded to the nearest ten degrees, so 10 and 28 name opposite directions on one strip of pavement, as do 07 and 25.

How accurate is the diagram?

It is plotted from published airport information, using published runway data for the lengths, widths and relative angles of both runways, current to the 2026 data cycle. It is a design piece rather than a navigation document: fine details may be simplified or omitted, taxiway edges are generalized, and small markings and structures are left out to keep the geometry legible on a wall.

Which size and finish work best, and does it make a good gift?

The wide X benefits from a larger size, where the taxiway kite below the runways stays readable rather than collapsing into a smudge; smaller sizes still hold the two black strips cleanly. Each print is made to order, as a Fine Art Print, Framed Fine Art Print or Glossy Metal Print (Digital Download available separately), with US shipping included on physical pieces. It is an easy gift for a pilot, a controller, a Fort Drum arrival or anyone who has watched the North Country from a window seat, since the layout is recognizable at a glance to people who know the field.
