The paper is acid-free and archival-grade, with a smooth matte surface and the high color gamut and black density that let a dark ground and fine linework keep their depth. Supplied unframed, with no added white margin, ready for your own frame.

Dimensions

Fine Art Print: 8 x 10, 16 x 20, and 24 x 30 inches.

Made like something you keep.

The field itself

This is Manistee's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Manistee County/Blacker Airport Runway Diagram Print

MBL draws as a cross. One long runway runs nearly east to west across the sheet, and a shorter strip cuts through it close to the western end, with the numbers 10, 28, 1 and 19 sitting at the four ends. Runway 10/28 is 5,501 by 100 feet of asphalt; the crossing runway, 01/19, is 2,721 by 75 feet. Because the intersection falls well left of center, the composition is asymmetric: taxiways and apron shapes cluster in the upper left, then the long runway runs out alone into open paper toward the 28 end.

Manistee County/Blacker is a public use airport three nautical miles northeast of the central business district of Manistee, Michigan, covering 290 acres at an elevation of 621 feet above mean sea level. It is owned by the Manistee County Blacker Airport Authority and is mostly used for general aviation. By 2023, Cape Air was flying out of Chicago's O'Hare, with codesharing or interline agreements including American and United. Small field, long history: a Michigan airport that has never stopped being a working strip.

As art, this one earns its wall by restraint. Drawn from published airport information, with fine details of the field simplified or omitted so the runway geometry stays readable at wall distance. The two crossed lines carry the whole frame, and the colorway you choose decides whether the pavement reads as graphic and hard edged or soft and atmospheric. Hang it near prints of other Lake Michigan fields, Muskegon to the south or Grand Rapids inland, and the difference in scale and shape is the point of the group.

Manistee (MBL) print, common questions

How many runways does MBL have?

Two. Runway 10/28 is 5,501 by 100 feet and runway 01/19 is 2,721 by 75 feet, both asphalt. In the print they cross near the western end of the long runway.

How long is the longest runway at Manistee County/Blacker?

5,501 feet long and 100 feet wide, designated 10/28. It is the dominant near horizontal line in the composition.

Where is MBL, and what does the code stand for?

MBL is the identifier for Manistee County/Blacker in Manistee, Michigan, three nautical miles northeast of the city's central business district. The field sits at 44.2725 N, 86.2469 W, at an elevation of 621 feet.

How closely does the print follow the published layout?

The runway lengths, widths, orientations and crossing point are plotted from published airport information for MBL, so the geometry on the wall is the geometry pilots fly. It is a print, not a chart: fine details may be simplified or omitted, and it carries no navigational use.

What sizes can I order?

Several standard sizes are offered, printed to order, in the colorway you choose. The wide horizontal reach of runway 10/28 rewards a larger size if you have the wall for it.

Does this work as a gift?

Yes, especially for anyone with a Manistee connection: pilots based on the field, families who fly in and out of Michigan's Lake Michigan shoreline towns, or someone who learned to land on a 2,721 foot crosswind strip. Made to order and shipped free within the US.
