The field itself

This is Williamsport's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Williamsport Regional Airport Runway Diagram Print

Williamsport Regional works two runways, and on this print they read as a narrow V that opens toward the west. Runway 09/27 is the long one, 6,825 by 150 feet, climbing from the lower left of the field toward the upper right. Runway 12/30 is 4,273 by 150 feet and drops in from the upper left, crossing 09/27 just short of the eastern end so that the 27 and 30 thresholds end up stacked one above the other. Both surfaces are asphalt.

That single crossing is what carries the composition. Two black strips pinch together at one point on the right, then fan apart across open ground, and the space between them stays empty except for the pale taxiway loops that fill the wedge. Building blocks and apron shapes gather in lighter gray along the top edge of the field, which keeps the visual weight high and leaves the lower half of the sheet quiet. The IPT wordmark, the coordinates and the 528 foot elevation sit in the bottom corner, small enough to read as a caption rather than a headline.

The airport has served north central Pennsylvania since 1929 from a site five miles east of Williamsport, in Lycoming County. In 1964 a TWA Constellation schedule threaded this field into a chain of stops that included Binghamton and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. In 1993 a glider released from tow over the airport and set a world record on an out and return course of 1,646.68 km, coming back to land ten hours later. The terminal that stands there now opened in 2018.

As wall art it suits a hallway or an office wall where a long horizontal shape has room to breathe. The geometry is legible from across a room and rewards a closer look at the taxiway detail, and the colorway you choose sets whether it sits back as a quiet graphic or holds the wall.

Williamsport (IPT) print, common questions

How many runways does Williamsport Regional have, and how are they drawn?

Two, and both appear on the print. Runway 09/27 measures 6,825 by 150 feet and runway 12/30 measures 4,273 by 150 feet, both asphalt. On the sheet they meet in a narrow V, crossing near their eastern ends where the 27 and 30 thresholds sit one above the other.

How long is the longest runway at IPT?

6,825 feet. That is runway 09/27, at 150 feet wide, and it is the dominant diagonal line across the print. The shorter 12/30 runs 4,273 feet at the same 150 foot width.

What is IPT and where is the airport?

IPT is the identifier for Williamsport Regional, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, five miles east of the city in Lycoming County. The field sits at 41.2417 degrees north, 76.9218 degrees west, at an elevation of 528 feet, and those figures are printed under the wordmark.

How closely does the print follow the published layout?

The runways, taxiways and apron areas are plotted from published airport information, so the designators, the relative lengths and the angle between 09/27 and 12/30 all follow that data. It is a print rather than a chart: fine details are simplified or omitted, markings and signage are not included, and it is not for navigation.

What sizes and finishes are available?

The IPT diagram is offered in several standard print sizes, made to order. Orders containing only paper prints ship flat; framed and metal pieces ship in their own boxes. The wide V of the two runways works best when the print is hung with a little clear wall around it.

Is this a good gift for a pilot or a Williamsport local?

It tends to land well with anyone who has flown into or out of IPT, trained there, or grown up nearby. The layout is specific enough to be recognized on sight, and the colorway you choose lets you match an existing room without turning it into aviation decor.
