The field itself

This is Winnemucca's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Winnemucca Municipal Airport Runway Diagram Print

Winnemucca Municipal sits six miles southwest of Winnemucca in Humboldt County, Nevada, and its two asphalt runways are the whole composition of this print. Runway 14/32, 7,000 by 100 feet, falls as one long dark bar from the upper left corner toward the bottom of the sheet. The shorter 2/20, 4,800 by 75 feet, begins at a point low on that bar and climbs back out to the right, so the pair opens upward into a narrow V. Field elevation, 4,308 feet, is set in small type under the identifier.

The V is what makes this one work on a wall. Two heavy strokes hold the left and right edges of the field, the taxiways and aprons stay pale gray behind them, and the wide wedge of paper caught between the legs does most of the visual work. Terminal buildings and hangars cluster in a tight band across the top, small and dense against all that open space below. At 968 acres the airport is not a sprawling one, and the drawing does not pretend otherwise: it is quiet, angular and easy to read from across a room, in the colorway you choose.

The National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011 to 2015 categorized Winnemucca Municipal as a general aviation facility, and in 2022 the field handled 6,925 aircraft operations, an average of 133 a week. The airport was renamed Franklin Field in 2019 in honor of Lt. Col. Irl 'Leon' Franklin, a decorated Vietnam War veteran and combat pilot who earned the Silver Star for his lead role in Operation Ivory Coast. Hung on its own or in a row with the diagrams for Battle Mountain and Elko, it suits pilots who fly the high desert and anyone who has watched that V come up out of the sagebrush on final.

Winnemucca (WMC) print, common questions

How many runways does Winnemucca Municipal have?

Two, both asphalt. Runway 14/32 measures 7,000 by 100 feet and runway 2/20 measures 4,800 by 75 feet. In the print they converge near the lower part of the field and open upward into a narrow V.

How high is the airport?

The field elevation is 4,308 feet, which is printed under the WMC identifier on every copy. That puts Winnemucca Municipal well up on the northern Nevada high desert.

Where is WMC and what does the code mean?

WMC is the identifier for Winnemucca Municipal Airport, six miles southwest of Winnemucca in Humboldt County, Nevada. The three letter code is the shorthand pilots and flight plans use for the field.

How closely does the print follow the published layout?

The diagram is plotted from published airport information, so runway lengths, widths and relative angles follow the published runway data, including the 7,000 foot 14/32 and the 4,800 foot 2/20. It is wall art rather than a chart: markings, lighting, signage and minor pavement detail may be simplified or omitted, and it is not for navigation.

What sizes and finishes are available?

Prints come in several standard sizes, as a Fine Art Print, Framed Fine Art Print or Glossy Metal Print (Digital Download available separately), and the same layout is offered in a range of background treatments, so you can match the colorway you choose to the room. Each physical piece is made to order.

Does this make a good gift for a pilot?

Yes, especially for someone who trained, based an aircraft or flew freight through northern Nevada. The V of 14/32 and 2/20 is recognizable to anyone who has used the field, and the code, coordinates and elevation give it a personal anchor without needing a caption.
