The field itself

This is Lovelock's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Derby Field Runway Diagram Print

Derby Field reads as a narrow V on the sheet. The long diagonal is runway 02/20, 5529 feet by 75 feet of asphalt, climbing from the lower left corner toward the upper right. The shorter strip, 08/26 at 4931 feet by 75 feet, runs flat across the bottom of the frame and joins the diagonal just above the 02 threshold. Two runways, one junction, a lot of quiet paper around them.

What finishes the composition is the pale taxiway line. It leaves the apron on the left, swings wide to the right and drops down to the 26 end, closing the shape into a long triangle with the two runways. The apron cluster itself is small and busy, a knot of ramp and building shapes set against a field that is otherwise empty. That contrast, dense in one corner and open everywhere else, is what makes this layout hold a wall instead of just sitting on it. The elevation, 3908 feet, is printed under the identifier along with the coordinates.

The geometry is plotted from published runway data, so the strips sit at the angles the published headings give them, not at tidy right angles. Magnetic variation here is 14E, which is why a runway numbered 02 leans noticeably off vertical in the drawing. If you are building a Nevada wall, Fallon and Winnemucca sit naturally on either side of it, and the shapes stay distinct at a glance.

Lovelock (LOL) print, common questions

How many runways does Derby Field have?

Two. Runway 02/20 is 5529 feet long and 75 feet wide, and runway 08/26 is 4931 feet long and 75 feet wide. Both are asphalt, and both appear in the print.

What is the longest runway at LOL?

Runway 02/20, at 5529 feet. It is the long diagonal in the artwork, the one running from the lower left of the frame up to the right.

Where is LOL and what does the code mean?

LOL is the identifier for Derby Field at Lovelock, Nevada, sitting at 3908 feet of elevation. The print carries the three letter code, the city and state, the coordinates and the elevation beneath the diagram.

How accurate is the diagram?

The runway layout, lengths and orientations are composed from published airport information for Derby Field, so the V of 02/20 and 08/26 and the taxiway that closes the triangle are all where the published data puts them. This is artwork rather than a navigation chart, and fine details may be simplified or omitted. Lighting, markings and signage are examples of what gets left out for legibility.

What formats and sizes can I get?

Four: Fine Art Print, Framed Fine Art Print, Glossy Metal Print and Digital Download. Physical pieces are made to order in a range of sizes, and the digital option is a file you download. The Derby Field layout is wide and low in the lower half of the frame, so larger sizes give the 5529 foot diagonal room to read across a room.

Does this work as a gift?

Yes, particularly for a pilot who has flown into Lovelock or anyone with a connection to this part of Nevada. The identifier is large enough to recognize from across a hallway, and the colorway you choose sets whether it reads as quiet or graphic.
