Somerset Airport Runway Diagram Print

Somerset (SMQ) draws as three runways crossing in a single tight cluster, set left of center in the frame. Runway 12/30 is the long one at 2,739 feet by 65 feet, an asphalt strip inked solid and dark as it runs from upper left down to lower right. Turf runway 08/26 measures 1,923 feet by 100 feet and rises the other way, lower left to upper right. Turf runway 17/35, 1,700 feet by 150 feet, drops almost straight down the sheet. All three meet within a few strip widths of one another, so the eye lands on the crossing before it reads anything else.

The two turf strips carry a soft dotted fill, which sets them apart from the solid black pavement of 12/30 without shouting. Their widths do the rest of the work: at 100 feet and 150 feet they are visibly broader than the 65 foot paved runway, so the dark line reads as the narrow, decisive stroke through a pair of wide pale bands.
