The field itself

This is Newark's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Newark Liberty International Airport Runway Diagram Print

Newark Liberty International is built around three runways, and this print plots each one to scale from the field's real geometry. Two of them, 04L/22R and 04R/22L, run parallel on a southwest-to-northeast line, the longer stretching 11,000 feet and its close neighbor just shy of that at 9,999. The third, 11/29, is shorter at 6,725 feet and crosses the northeastern ends of the pair. Rendered on the wall, those two long parallels read as a pair of dark diagonals, with the crossing strip pinning them near the top of the field.

The airport sits on reclaimed marshland in Newark and Elizabeth, New Jersey, roughly nine miles west-southwest of Manhattan. It opened in 1928 as the first major airport to serve the New York metropolitan area and the first commercial airport in the country with a paved runway. In 2002 it was renamed Newark Liberty International in tribute to the victims of the September 11 attacks and to the nearby Statue of Liberty.

The dense weave of taxiways feeding the runways gives the diagram its layered texture without pulling focus from the three-runway geometry.

On the west side of the field, the curved terminal structures fan out toward the runways, with available field depictions guiding their relative shape alongside the ident block, the Newark coordinates, and the field elevation of 18 feet above sea level. The runways carry their real designators set against a ground tone you choose. It is a quiet, place-specific portrait of one of the country's oldest working airfields.

Newark (EWR) print, common questions

How many runways does Newark Liberty International have?

Three. Two parallel runways, 04L/22R and 04R/22L, plus a shorter crossing runway, 11/29. All three appear in the print, composed from published airport information.

How long is the longest runway at EWR?

Runway 04L/22R is the longest at 11,000 feet. 04R/22L runs 9,999 feet and 11/29 is 6,725 feet. Every runway is 150 feet wide.

Why is the code EWR and not something starting with N?

EWR is the three-letter code for Newark Liberty International. It does not begin with N because codes starting with that letter were unavailable to it, so the airport took EWR instead.

How does the EWR print relate to the airport's layout?

Published airport information and available field depictions guide the EWR composition, including the runway designators and relative geometry. It is original wall art, so fine details may be simplified or omitted.

What sizes are available?

The print is made to order in several sizes and finishes, on a ground tone you choose. Each one is produced after you order.

Does it make a good gift for a pilot or frequent flyer?

Yes.
