Shreveport Regional Airport Runway Diagram Print

Shreveport Regional Airport works two asphalt runways, and on the print they meet as a plain X. Runway 14/32 is 8,348 by 200 feet and falls northwest to southeast; runway 6/24 is 7,003 by 150 feet and climbs southwest to northeast. The crossing sits over toward the west side of the field, about a third of the way along 14/32 from the 14 threshold and about the same along 6/24 from the 6 end, so the two long arms, 32 and 24, carry most of the linework out to the lower right and the upper right of the frame while the short arms stop quickly. Field elevation is 258 feet above sea level and magnetic variation is 2E, small enough that the plotted headings sit close to true north.

The field was designed to replace Shreveport Downtown Airport, whose growth was limited by how close it sat to the Red River, and it is operated by the Shreveport Airport Authority under a charter from the City of Shreveport. It covers 1,625 acres four nautical miles southwest of the central business district, and its runways and terminal are visible to traffic on Interstate 20. For a stretch of the jet age it carried more schedule than its size suggests. In 1976 the February 1 Official Airline Guide listed Delta operating thirty three flights a day out of Shreveport, and in 1979 the December 15 Delta timetable showed daily nonstop jet service to Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Little Rock and New Orleans. Royale Airlines was based here from 1962 until 1989, serving 23 cities across Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and Florida.

Freight and maintenance work gave the ground plan much of its bulk. A cargo terminal opened in 2009 as an anchor for the Aero Park Industrial Park, and in 2018 Western Global Airlines set up a consolidated maintenance center in the former ExpressJet facilities, taking in its first Boeing 747 that August. On the wall all of that reads as mass rather than detail. Runway designators, lengths and widths follow the published figures, taxiways and apron edges are reduced to flat geometry, and the terminal and hangar blocks north of the crossing give the composition its weight against the ground tone you choose.
