Southern Illinois Airport Runway Diagram Print

Southern Illinois Airport (MDH) works on a wall because its three runways refuse to line up politely. Two strips run almost straight up and down the sheet, close enough to read as a pair, with the 6,506 foot 18L/36R on the right and the shorter, narrower 18R/36L on the left. Then 06/24, 4,163 feet of it, slices across the whole field from lower left to upper right and cuts through both parallels. The result is a long, leaning figure with one bold stroke laid over two verticals, and it holds a room better than a tidy single strip ever does.

The field sits at 411 feet of elevation, northwest of Carbondale and east of Murphysboro, on ground the airport authority has run since the place opened in 1950 under the name Murdale Airport. Its 1,200 acres carry three lighted, hard surface runways, and the print keeps that hierarchy visible: the longest runway is drawn heaviest, the diagonal reads as the crossing gesture, and the taxiway web and apron buildings sit back in a lighter tone so the geometry stays legible from across the room.
