Dimensions

Fine Art Print: 8 x 10, 16 x 20, and 24 x 30 inches.

Made like something you keep.

The field itself

This is Cape Girardeau's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Cape Girardeau Regional Airport Runway Diagram Print

Cape Girardeau Regional puts two runways on the sheet and they cross. Runway 10/28 is 6,500 by 150 feet with a concrete surface, and 2/20 is 3,997 by 100 feet in asphalt and concrete. In the print, the long strip runs from the upper left down to the lower right, 2/20 cuts through it on the diagonal, and the two meet left of the sheet's center in a lopsided X. Field elevation is 342 feet.

That crossing is the whole composition. Because both runways are drawn in solid dark ink and everything else (parallel taxiways, connectors, the ramp and the hangar rows crowded into the upper right corner) sits back in soft grey, your eye lands on the X first and then wanders into the detail. The figure holds the top half of the page and leaves the bottom open, so the print reads as a piece of graphic design rather than a chart, and the four end labels 10, 28, 2 and 20 give it the only numbers it needs. Below the diagram the identifier, city, coordinates and elevation are set in small type.

The field opened in 1943, built by the United States Army Air Forces and known then as Harris Army Airfield, a stage one primary pilot training airfield where Fairchild PT-19s did the flying. Contract training was short lived and the school closed in 1944, after which the airfield passed to civil control at the end of the war. It is a city owned public use airport in Scott County, southwest of the central business district of Cape Girardeau, and Air Force One landed here in 2018.

It hangs well on its own and better in a row. If you are building a wall of fields from this stretch of the mid Mississippi and lower Ohio country, Marion sits about 77 km away in southern Illinois and Evansville is a couple of hours east, and both draw very differently from this one.

Cape Girardeau (CGI) print, common questions

How many runways does Cape Girardeau Regional have, and how long are they?

Two. Runway 10/28 measures 6,500 by 150 feet with a concrete surface, and runway 2/20 measures 3,997 by 100 feet in asphalt and concrete. Both are drawn on the print, crossing each other.

Where is CGI, and how high is the field?

Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at 37.2253 degrees north and 89.5708 degrees west, with a field elevation of 342 feet. It is a city owned public use airport in Scott County, southwest of the central business district of Cape Girardeau.

What does CGI mean, and why not KCGI?

CGI is the three letter identifier for Cape Girardeau Regional; KCGI is the four letter code for the same airport. The print uses CGI because it is the code most people who fly there say out loud.

How closely does the print follow the published layout?

It is plotted from published airport information for cycle 2609, effective 6 August 2026. Runway designators, relative lengths and widths, the angle at which 10/28 and 2/20 cross, and the position of the ramp all follow that data. It is still a print, so fine details may be simplified or left out entirely, and nothing here is intended for navigation.

What sizes are available?

Several sizes, in the colorway you choose. The crossed runways stay legible at the smaller sizes because the shape is simple and bold; go larger if you want the taxiway loops and the hangar rows in the upper right to read clearly from across a room. Each one is made to order.

Is this a good gift for a pilot?

It works for anyone with a tie to the field: pilots who trained or based there, families who have flown in and out, or someone from Cape Girardeau living somewhere else. The layout is specific enough to be recognised instantly by people who know it, and quiet enough to hang in a room where nobody else does.
