The field itself

This is Lewistown's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Lewistown Municipal Airport Runway Diagram Print

Lewistown Municipal (LWT) prints as three runways: a long horizontal strip across the upper third of the sheet, with two diagonals meeting below it in a wide X. Runway 08/26 is that long strip, 6,100 feet by 100 feet of asphalt in good condition, and it runs nearly edge to edge, which is why the composition sits high and reads calm. The two diagonals cross near the left end of it, so the whole field leans west while the right half of the sheet stays open.

The X is made by 03/21 at 5,600 feet by 101 feet, an asphalt and gravel surface in poor condition, and 13/31 at 4,102 feet by 62 feet of asphalt in good condition. Both cross each other and both reach up to touch 08/26, which is a layout you do not often get on a small field: three usable directions for wind at a published elevation of 4,170 feet, with a magnetic variation of 11E. Runway numbers sit in small reversed boxes at each end, 8 and 26 on the long strip, 3, 21, 13 and 31 on the diagonals.

The three strips are plotted from published airport information, including the differing widths of the runways, so 13/31 reads noticeably thinner on the sheet than the other two. Taxiways, apron and a few buildings sit behind them in a lighter tone, which keeps the runways as the drawing and the ground as texture. The identifier LWT anchors the lower right with the city, coordinates and elevation, and whichever colorway you choose, that crossing X is the shape that carries the wall. If you are building a Montana set, it hangs well next to Great Falls or Billings.

Lewistown (LWT) print, common questions

How many runways does Lewistown Municipal have?

Three. Runway 08/26 is 6,100 feet by 100 feet, runway 03/21 is 5,600 feet by 101 feet, and runway 13/31 is 4,102 feet by 62 feet. On the print, 08/26 is the long horizontal strip and the other two cross beneath it.

What is the longest runway at LWT?

Runway 08/26, at 6,100 feet long and 100 feet wide, with an asphalt surface in good condition. It is the strip that spans the widest part of the artwork.

Where is LWT and how high is the field?

LWT is Lewistown Municipal in Lewistown, Montana, at 47.0493 degrees north and 109.4667 degrees west. Field elevation is 4,170 feet, and that figure is printed in the lower corner of the artwork.

What does LWT stand for?

LWT is the identifier for Lewistown Municipal. It is the code set large at the bottom of the print, with Lewistown, Montana, the coordinates and the elevation beneath it.

How accurate is the diagram?

Runway designators, relative lengths, widths and crossing angles follow the published airport layout for the current data cycle, but fine details may be simplified or omitted. Pavement markings, lighting and smaller service areas are examples of what gets reduced so the runway shape stays legible from across a room.

What sizes and formats can I order, and does it work as a gift?

The LWT artwork comes as a Fine Art Print, a Framed Fine Art Print, a Glossy Metal Print or a Digital Download, in a range of sizes. Physical pieces are made to order and the digital option is a file you receive, which makes it an easy gift for a pilot who has flown into Lewistown or learned to handle a three runway field at altitude.
