Fine Art Print: 8 x 10, 16 x 20, and 24 x 30 inches.

Made like something you keep.

The field itself

This is Glendale's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Luke AFB Runway Diagram Print

Luke AFB draws as two parallel runways on a single long diagonal: 03L/21R at 10,000 feet and 03R/21L at 9,912 feet, both 150 feet wide and both concrete. In the print they run from the lower left to the upper right of the sheet, set so close together that they read as one bold band split by a hairline of background. That near-symmetry is the whole composition. Nothing crosses, nothing fans out, and the eye follows the stripe corner to corner.

The supporting pavement all sits on one side. Taxiways, the loop at the north end, the ramp fingers and the block of building footprints are rendered in quiet grey along the west flank, which throws the weight of the image off center and gives the runway pair something to lean against. The field elevation of 1,084 feet and the coordinates sit in the lower corner with the identifier, so the sheet works as a label as much as a shape.

Advanced flight training in the AT-6 Texan began at Luke in 1941, and the base carries the name of Second Lieutenant Frank Luke, a posthumous Medal of Honor recipient and the number two United States flying ace in World War I. From 1977 through 1991, Luke had more fighter aircraft than any other base, which earned it the moniker Fighter Country. In 2005 the 56th Fighter Wing here was the largest fighter unit in the world, and in 2026 the base returned to Air Combat Command under the Fifteenth Air Force.

The field lies about 7 miles west of the central business district of Glendale and roughly 15 miles west of Phoenix, with most of its acreage inside the Glendale city limits. Put it beside a diagram of another field on the same side of the valley and the contrast does the work: one long twin diagonal against whatever geometry the neighbor happens to own.

Glendale (LUF) print, common questions

How many runways does Luke AFB have?

Two, and both appear in the print. Runway 03L/21R is 10,000 feet long and Runway 03R/21L is 9,912 feet long. Both are 150 feet wide, both are concrete, and they run parallel on the same northeast to southwest axis.

How long is the longest runway at LUF?

10,000 feet, which is Runway 03L/21R. Its neighbor, 03R/21L, is 9,912 feet, so the two strips end at slightly different points and the artwork shows that small offset rather than smoothing it out.

Where is LUF, and what is the LUF code?

LUF is the identifier for Luke AFB at Glendale, Arizona, about 7 miles west of the central business district of Glendale and 15 miles west of Phoenix. Field elevation is 1,084 feet. The base is named for Second Lieutenant Frank Luke.

How accurate is the artwork to the published layout?

The runway designators, lengths, widths and relative positions are plotted from published airport information for cycle 2610, effective 2026-09-03. It is composed as artwork for a wall, so fine details may be simplified or omitted. Pavement markings, lighting symbols and small service pads are the usual examples. Magnetic variation at the field is 10E, which is why the 03/21 numbers sit where they do relative to the drawn angle.

What formats and sizes can I get this in?

The LUF artwork is available as a Fine Art Print, a Framed Fine Art Print, a Glossy Metal Print and a Digital Download, in a range of sizes. Physical pieces are made to order; the digital option is a file. The colorway you choose changes the mood of the sheet, never the layout.

Is this a good gift for someone connected to Luke?

It works well for a pilot, a maintainer, an instructor or anyone who spent time on that flight line. The long twin diagonal is instantly recognizable to people who know the field, and the identifier, coordinates and elevation in the corner make it clear to everyone else.
