The paper is acid-free and archival-grade, with a smooth matte surface and the high color gamut and black density that let a dark ground and fine linework keep their depth. Supplied unframed, with no added white margin, ready for your own frame.

Dimensions

Fine Art Print: 8 x 10, 16 x 20, and 24 x 30 inches.

Made like something you keep.

The field itself

This is Decatur's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Decatur Airport Runway Diagram Print

Decatur Airport works three runways, and the print is built on the shape they make together. Runway 6/24 is the long one at 8,496 by 150 feet, running southwest to northeast. Runway 12/30 comes in from the northwest at 6,799 by 150 feet and crosses it well east of center, so the two read as a wide X with a tail left on each arm. The third strip, 18/36 at 5,298 by 150 feet, stands almost straight north to south along the west edge, and its ends sit near the thresholds of 12 and 6, closing the layout into a long triangle. Field elevation is 682 feet and magnetic variation is 1W, so the plotted headings sit close to true north.

The airport lies five miles east of Decatur in Macon County, covers 2,100 acres, and is owned by the Decatur Park District. The surfaces are mixed: 6/24 and 12/30 are asphalt and concrete, while 18/36 is asphalt. Crossing runways make for their own kind of history here. In October 2006 an Air Force C-21A flying a simulated approach rolled right, struck the pavement, then skidded through the grass infield and across another runway before coming to a stop, with both occupants surviving.

As of 2026 the scheduled airline service at the field is a single United Express run to Chicago O'Hare. In the 12 months ending December 2020 the airport logged 29,285 aircraft operations, an average of 80 a day, with 78 percent of them general aviation. None of that traffic shows on the wall. Runway designators, lengths and widths follow the published figures, taxiways and apron edges are reduced to flat geometry, and the terminal and hangar rows along the west side read as a stack of quiet rectangles over the ground tone you choose. It is original wall art composed from published airport information and available field depictions, printed to order at a size that reads from across a room.

Decatur (DEC) print, common questions

How many runways does Decatur Airport have?

Three. Runway 6/24 is 8,496 by 150 feet, 12/30 is 6,799 by 150 feet, and 18/36 is 5,298 by 150 feet. All three are on the print, with 6/24 and 12/30 crossing well east of the terminal area.

What is the longest runway at DEC, and how high is the field?

Runway 6/24 at 8,496 feet is the longest. Field elevation is 682 feet above sea level, and that figure is set in the margin of the print.

What does DEC stand for and where is the airport?

DEC is the IATA code for Decatur Airport, five miles east of Decatur in Macon County, Illinois, at roughly 39.83 north, 88.87 west.

Is the diagram accurate to the real airport?

Runway designators, lengths, widths and the way the three strips meet are drawn from the airport's published layout. It is original wall art, not a chart: fine details may be simplified or omitted, including minor taxiway markings, signage and small structures, and it is not for navigation.

What sizes can I get, and does this work as a gift?

Each print is made to order in several sizes and finishes, on a ground tone you pick at checkout. It lands well with anyone who has flown out of Decatur, worked on the field, or grew up under the pattern in Macon County.
