Framed Fine Art Print: the same cotton fine art paper in a 1.25 inch solid wood frame. A white, acid-free, 4-ply mat with a 45-degree bevel and optical-grade, shatter-resistant clear acrylic (safer to ship than glass) are included. The print is mounted to foam core for a flat presentation, with a kraft paper dust cover and installed hanging wire on the back.

Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport Runway Diagram Print
BHM reduces to two black strips that cross high on the sheet. Runway 06/24 runs 12,007 feet by 150 feet and cuts the frame on a long diagonal, entering at lower left where the 6 threshold is labeled and leaving at upper right past the 24 end. Runway 18/36 is 7,099 feet by 150 feet and drops straight down the page. The junction sits near the north end of the north-south strip, so most of 18/36 hangs below the crossing while the diagonal barely clears it on the way to 24. That off-center meeting is what gives the composition its tension: not a tidy plus sign, but a cross pulled toward one corner.
The field has grown into that shape. Commercial air service to Birmingham began in 1928 on a route between Atlanta and New Orleans, flown from an older field west of town, and the airport that became Birmingham-Shuttlesworth opened in 1931 with a single east-west strip. Runway 18/36 was lengthened in the early 1990s, and an eastward extension finished in 2007 brought 06/24 to the length the print carries today. The airport covers 2,170 acres in Jefferson County, five miles northeast of downtown Birmingham, and the sheet notes the field elevation of 650 feet under the identifier block. The Shuttlesworth name was added in 2008, for Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth, a leader of the Birmingham campaign during the civil rights movement.
Only the two runways carry black. The rest of the sheet sits back in gray: taxiway loops that wrap both ends of 06/24, apron edges around the terminal on the east side, and scattered building masses, with one broad block near the bottom of the field reading as the largest solid form in the composition. The airport's south side holds a large aircraft modification and maintenance complex of roughly 180 acres, and that footprint is why so much weight gathers below the runways. Wide margins do the rest of the work. The airfield sits in the upper two thirds of the paper, the identifier, city, coordinates and elevation anchor the lower right, and the paper between them stays empty, so the crossing reads as a graphic mark first and a diagram second.
