Dimensions

Fine Art Print: 8 x 10, 16 x 20, and 24 x 30 inches.

Made like something you keep.

The field itself

This is Gadsden's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Northeast Alabama Regional Airport Runway Diagram Print

Northeast Alabama Regional sits five miles southwest of Gadsden, in Etowah County, and the print gives it one runway: 6/24, 6,802 by 150 feet of asphalt. On the sheet that reads as a single dark strip running low on the left to high on the right, with the 6 threshold marked at the bottom corner and the 24 threshold near the top. Nothing else on the page is that dark, so the eye lands on the runway first and stays there.

Around it, the pale taxiway pavement does the composing. A long ribbon climbs almost straight up through the middle right of the frame, then bends over the top of the runway and comes back down the right edge, closing a tall wedge of empty paper. Apron and hangar blocks cluster to the right of center, and a second, smaller row of hangars hangs below the runway on its own short stub. The field elevation, 569 feet, is set in the caption block with the coordinates and the GAD identifier.

The history under all that geometry is longer than the layout suggests. The airport is owned by the Gadsden Airport Authority and was once Gadsden Municipal Airport; the first airline flights were Southern Airways DC-3s in 1949, and successor Republic pulled its Convair 580s out in 1981. What hangs on the wall is quieter than that: one clean diagonal, a lot of open field, and a caption. It frames well on its own, and if you are building a set of Alabama fields, the Birmingham and Huntsville diagrams sit naturally beside it.

The whole thing is plotted from published airport information and rendered flat, without shading or texture, so the shapes carry the piece in whichever colorway you choose.

Gadsden (GAD) print, common questions

How many runways does GAD have, and how long is the runway?

One runway, 6/24, 6,802 feet long and 150 feet wide, asphalt. It is the single dark bar on the diagram, angled from lower left to upper right.

Where is Northeast Alabama Regional?

Five miles southwest of Gadsden, in Etowah County, Alabama. The coordinates printed in the caption block are 33.9704 N, 86.0913 W.

What is the field elevation?

569 feet. It appears in the caption under the airport identifier, along with the city and state.

What does GAD mean?

GAD is the three letter identifier for Northeast Alabama Regional in Gadsden, Alabama. It is the code set large in the lower right corner of the print, and it is the only code shown.

How accurate is the diagram?

The runway, taxiways, aprons and buildings are plotted from published runway data for the field, with the runway designators placed at their ends. It is a designed piece, not a navigation chart: fine details may be simplified or omitted, line weights are chosen for legibility at wall distance, and nothing here should be used for flight.

Does this work as a gift?

It does, especially for someone who trained, based an aircraft, or worked at the field. The diagram is legible without a caption, so it reads as a graphic first and a personal landmark second. It ships made to order in a range of sizes, and free US shipping is included.
