Tanacross Airport Runway Diagram Print

Tanacross (TSG) is a two runway field in Alaska, and the print's whole character comes from where those two runways meet. They do not cross in the middle. The intersection sits up near the top left of the drawing, close to the 06 threshold and the 12 threshold, so both strips throw long arms out to the east and to the south. The result is a lopsided X, wide open on one side, tightly pinched on the other.

Runway 06/24 runs 4963 by 150 feet. Runway 12/30 runs 4871 by 150 feet. Both are paved asphalt, and both are close enough in length and identical enough in width that the eye reads them as a matched pair set at an angle rather than a main strip with a secondary. Field elevation is 1559 feet. Published information also gives a magnetic variation of 29E, which is the kind of number you only see this far north.

On a wall the geometry does the work. Two heavy dark bars, one nearly horizontal and one dropping steeply toward the lower right, with pale taxiway lines closing a broad triangle underneath them.
