The field itself

This is Deadhorse's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Deadhorse Airport Runway Diagram Print

SCC is a one runway field, and the print is built around that single strip. Runway 06/24 runs 6500 feet long and 150 feet wide, asphalt, and it is drawn as one solid dark bar cutting across the sheet on the diagonal: the 6 threshold low on the left, the 24 threshold high on the right, both numbered right on the pavement.

Above the bar, a taxiway runs the length of the runway and drops back down to it in a row of connectors. Those connectors cut the space between taxiway and runway into a line of long open rectangles, which is what gives the composition its rhythm: one heavy black line, one pale ladder riding along its upper edge. Near the 24 end the drawing thickens into apron pavement and a cluster of small building blocks, so the weight of the image sits off center while the runway carries the eye back down to the lower left corner. The caption sets the identifier SCC in large type over Deadhorse, Alaska, the coordinates, and the field elevation of 67 feet.

A single runway gives you a graphic with one clear gesture, and that is easy to hang. The angle does the work, the empty background does the rest, and the colorway you choose decides whether the strip reads as ink on paper or as a lit line in the dark. The Galena print can hang beside this one.

Deadhorse (SCC) print, common questions

How many runways does SCC have?

One. The field has a single runway, 06/24, and that is the only runway the drawing shows: one strip on the diagonal, labeled 6 at the southwest end and 24 at the northeast end.

How long is the runway at Deadhorse?

Runway 06/24 is 6500 feet long and 150 feet wide, with an asphalt surface. Those are the published figures behind the proportions of the bar you see in the print.

What is the elevation, and what is SCC?

The field elevation is 67 feet, printed in the caption below the identifier. SCC is the three letter identifier for Deadhorse; the four letter code for the same field is PASC. Magnetic variation on record is 17E.

How accurate is the layout in the print?

The runway and taxiway geometry is composed from published airport information for SCC, including the 6500 foot length and 150 foot width of 06/24. It is a designed piece rather than a navigation chart, so fine details may be simplified or omitted. Lighting, signage and pavement markings sit outside what this drawing carries.

What formats and sizes can I get?

The artwork comes as a Fine Art Print, a Framed Fine Art Print, a Glossy Metal Print, or a Digital Download. Physical formats are made to order; the download is a file. Available sizes are listed on the product page, and the diagonal runway holds up well at both the small and the large end because the composition is one line and a lot of open field.

Does this work as a gift?

It does, when the recipient has a tie to this field. The caption names Deadhorse, Alaska and sets the identifier SCC in large type, with the coordinates and the 67 foot elevation underneath, so the piece identifies itself without a card or a label to explain it.
