Kokomo Municipal Airport Runway Diagram Print

Kokomo Municipal runs two runways of the same 150 foot width straight across each other, and the print draws them as one long X. The heavier stroke is runway 05/23, 6,001 feet from the lower left up to the upper right. Crossing it on the other diagonal is 14/32, 4,001 feet, dropping from the upper left to the 32 end at lower right, where the pavement closes in a small turnaround loop. Both are asphalt. Taxiways, the apron and the hangar row sit in lighter grey along the top edge, so the two dark runways carry the whole composition.

Neither runway sits horizontal or vertical, so the artwork reads as two committed diagonals instead of a grid, and the crossing point lands just above center with open sheet below it for the OKK title block, the coordinates and the 832 foot elevation line. The field northeast of Kokomo, in Howard County, is owned by the Kokomo Board of Aviation Commissioners, and it has more airline history behind it than the layout lets on. Scheduled flights began in 1947 with Delta DC-3s, and successor Allegheny pulled out by 1970. The Kokomo, Logansport and Peru area stayed eligible for essential air service funding until 1989. A national airport systems plan for 2009 categorized the airport as a general aviation facility, and in 2014 it averaged 30 flight operations a day.
