The field itself

This is Lihue's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Lihue Airport Runway Diagram Print

Lihue Airport sits on the southeast coast of Kauai, its two runways laid out at an angle to each other. Runway 03/21 runs on a northeast line and Runway 17/35 runs nearly north to south, and the two meet near one end. Each is 6,500 feet long and 150 feet wide, so they read as matched strips on the diagram. This print plots that layout to scale from the real field, at 152 feet of elevation above the Pacific.

For most visitors, LIH is the front door to Kauai. It is the island's primary airport, state-owned and open to the public, handling both interisland hops and longer runs to the mainland. The terminal is known for being open-air, with much of the check-in area out under the trade winds rather than behind glass.

Kauai's scenery has pulled in plenty of film crews over the years, and scenes from Blue Hawaii, Soul Surfer, and The Descendants were shot at the airport itself. Day to day, the steadiest traffic is the short island shuttle, with interisland flights linking Lihue and Honolulu throughout the day.

Lihue (LIH) print, common questions

How does the LIH print relate to the airport's layout?

Published airport information and available field depictions guide the LIH composition, including the runway designators and relative geometry. It is original wall art, so fine details may be simplified or omitted.

What are the two runways?

They are designated 03/21 and 17/35. Each one is 6,500 feet long and 150 feet wide, which is why they read as equal strips on the diagram.

Why do the runways meet at an angle?

That is how the field is actually built. One runway runs on a northeast line, the other nearly north to south, and they converge near one end. The print keeps that recognizable geometry.

Can I choose the color?

Yes. The diagram comes in a range of ground tones and line treatments, so you can pick the one that suits your wall.

How is it made and shipped?

Each print is made to order and ships free within the US.

Is this a photograph of the airport?

No. It is a drawn diagram, composed to scale from the airport's real runway layout, not a photo or satellite image.
