The field itself

This is Eastman's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Heart of Georgia Regional Airport Runway Diagram Print

Heart of Georgia Regional is a one runway field, and the print is honest about it: Runway 02/20, 6,506 feet long and 100 feet wide, asphalt, on ground that sits 303 feet above sea level. On the sheet that runway becomes a single dark strip cutting on a diagonal from the lower left corner of the field up to the right, with 2 marked at the bottom end and 20 at the top. A taxiway runs parallel to it on one side, and the short connectors between the two read like rungs on a very long ladder. That is the whole composition, and the empty paper around it is doing as much work as the ink.

The field opened as Eastman-Dodge County Airport in 1966, built to serve the growing needs of the convenience store chain Stuckey's, and took the Heart of Georgia Regional name in 1995. Middle Georgia College absorbed Georgia Aviation Technical College in 2007, adding a school footprint to a field that sits three miles east of the Eastman city center. The apron clusters and hangar shapes plotted along the taxiway side are the part of the drawing that hints at all of that.

A single diagonal is a forgiving thing to hang. It gives a wall a line of movement without competing with anything else on it, and it works in a narrow hallway or over a desk where a busier field would turn to noise. The palette stays quiet in whichever colorway you choose, so the runway heading does the talking. Pilots trained here, students who came through the aviation campus, and anyone who has flown in from Valdosta or Savannah tend to read the identifier before they read anything else.

Eastman (EZM) print, common questions

How many runways does EZM have?

One. Runway 02/20 is the only runway at Heart of Georgia Regional, and it is the single diagonal strip you see on the print.

How long is the runway at Heart of Georgia Regional?

6,506 feet long and 100 feet wide, with an asphalt surface. Those are the published dimensions the drawing is proportioned from.

Where is EZM and what is the field elevation?

Eastman, Georgia, about three miles east of the city center, at 303 feet of elevation. The coordinates and elevation are printed in the caption block.

What does the code EZM stand for?

EZM is the three letter identifier assigned to Heart of Georgia Regional, a holdover from its years as Eastman-Dodge County Airport. It is the code printed large at the bottom of the sheet.

How accurate is the layout on this print?

The runway, taxiway and apron shapes are plotted from published airport information, so the geometry and the 02/20 orientation hold up. It is a print, not a chart: fine details may be simplified or omitted, and nothing on it is for navigation.

Does this work as a gift for someone who flew or trained at Eastman?

It tends to. Anyone who logged hours off 02/20 recognizes the shape before they read the label, and the print is made to order in a range of sizes and finishes so it can be scaled to the wall it is going on.
