The paper is acid-free and archival-grade, with a smooth matte surface and the high color gamut and black density that let a dark ground and fine linework keep their depth. Supplied unframed, with no added white margin, ready for your own frame.

Dimensions

Fine Art Print: 8 x 10, 16 x 20, and 24 x 30 inches.

Made like something you keep.

The field itself

This is New Bern's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Coastal Carolina Regional Airport Runway Diagram Print

Two runways cross in an X, and the print draws both of them. Runway 04/22 is the long one at 6,452 feet, entering from the lower left and climbing to the 22 threshold near the top of the sheet. Runway 14/32 runs 4,001 feet on the opposite diagonal, coming in from the left edge and finishing at the 32 end over on the right. Both are 150 feet wide, both are asphalt, and because the crossing point sits above center, the composition keeps the whole lower right corner open for the EWN block, the coordinates and the 18 foot elevation.

Coastal Carolina Regional lies about three miles southeast of the central business district of New Bern, in Craven County, on 785 acres. The Marine Corps leased the field in 1941 as an outlying field of Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point and called it OLF Camp Mitchell; it closed for seven months during 1942 while two hard surface runways and runway lighting went in. The Craven County Regional name lasted until 2008, when the state legislature ratified the change to Coastal Carolina Regional. The Crystal Coast is right there: Cape Lookout National Seashore, the Outer Banks and Atlantic Beach all sit within reach of this field.

As art, the geometry is the whole argument. Two dark bars meeting at a wide angle read as one clean mark from across a room, and only up close do the taxiway loops, the apron edges and the tight cluster of hangars and terminal buildings north of the crossing separate out. The runways stay the darkest elements in the colorway you choose, so the pattern holds at small sizes as well as large. Airfields across the eastern North Carolina plain hang well together, so this one pairs naturally with the diagram from Kinston or the one from Greenville.

New Bern (EWN) print, common questions

How many runways does EWN have, and how long are they?

Two. Runway 04/22 is 6,452 feet long, the longer of the pair, and runway 14/32 is 4,001 feet. Both are 150 feet wide and both are asphalt. On the print they cross each other in an X.

Where is Coastal Carolina Regional Airport?

About three miles southeast of downtown New Bern, in Craven County, North Carolina, on 785 acres of land. Field elevation is 18 feet, which is about as close to sea level as an airport diagram gets.

What is EWN?

EWN is the identifier for Coastal Carolina Regional Airport in New Bern, North Carolina. It appears in large type at the bottom of the print, with the city, state, coordinates and elevation set underneath it.

How accurate is the diagram?

The layout follows published airport information for the field: runway 04/22 at 6,452 feet, runway 14/32 at 4,001 feet, both 150 feet wide, with the taxiways, apron and building footprints rendered in simplified form. It is a wall print rather than a chart, so fine details may be simplified or omitted, and it should never be used for navigation.

What sizes are available?

The diagram is composed to hold up across the full size range, from a small desk or hallway piece to a large statement print. Every one is made to order in the colorway you pick, and shipping within the US is free.

Does this work as a gift?

It lands well with anyone connected to New Bern or the Crystal Coast: pilots who have flown the 04/22 approach, families who pass through on the way to the beach, or someone who simply likes the shape of a crossed pair of runways on a wall.
