Vance AFB Runway Diagram Print

Vance AFB (END) sits at 1307 feet on the south side of Enid, Oklahoma, and the print gives you all three of its runways at once. The short one stops well short of the bottom and tucks in next to the ramp, which is the only crowded corner of the composition. Between the left and center runways a pair of taxiways crosses in a wide X, the single diagonal gesture in a design otherwise built from verticals. It is a quiet, orderly piece, more architecture than map.

The field carries a name from Enid itself: Lieutenant Colonel Leon Vance, an Enid native awarded the Medal of Honor in World War II. In 1972 the 71st Flying Training Wing became the host unit. The base lies about 65 miles north northwest of Oklahoma City, and the plain shapes in this print say training field more clearly than a caption could.
