Miami Executive Airport Runway Diagram Print

Miami Executive reads on the wall as two long east to west strips with a shorter diagonal slicing between them. The lower strip, 9R/27L, is the longest runway on the field at 6,000 by 150 ft. The upper one, 9L/27R, runs 5,003 by 150 ft, and 13/31 cuts down from the northwest corner at 4,001 by 150 ft. All three are asphalt, and the field sits at 10 ft of elevation, which is about as close to sea level as a print gets.

That geometry is what makes the composition work. The two parallels hold the horizontal, stacked with a wide gap of pale taxiway and apron between them, and the diagonal breaks the grid at an angle without touching either strip in the drawing. Ranks of hangars and tie-down rows fill the middle and the eastern end in a lighter tone, so the black runway bars stay the loudest thing in the frame. Runway numbers sit at the ends where you would expect them: 9L and 27R across the top, 9R and 27L along the bottom, 13 and 31 on the angle.

The airport opened in 1967, replacing the original Tamiami Airport, and it sits in unincorporated Miami-Dade County about 15 miles southwest of Downtown Miami. It was renamed from Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport in 2014. Composed from published airport information, the runway designators on the wall are the ones a pilot reads on the chart.
