Crystal Airport Runway Diagram Print

Crystal (MIC) is a three runway field in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the print is built around the point where two of those runways cross. Runway 14/32 is the long one, 3,751 feet by 75 feet of asphalt, running corner to corner from upper left to lower right. Runway 06L/24R cuts the other way at 2,500 feet by 75 feet. On the wall they read as a bold X, held slightly above center, with the end designators set in small type right at the pavement edges.

The third runway is the one that gives the composition its texture. Runway 06R/24L is turf, 1,669 feet long and 137 feet wide, which makes it the shortest and by far the widest strip on the field. It sits below 06L/24R on a parallel line and is rendered as a pale stippled band rather than solid ink, so the eye reads surface type before it reads any label. The long 14/32 runway passes straight through it, which is why the lower half of the drawing feels busier than the top.

Everything else is pale: taxiway loops wrapping the field, and long ranks of small buildings along the left, lower left and right edges that frame the runways without competing with them. Elevation is 869 feet, the coordinates and magnetic variation (2E) come from the same published airport information the layout is plotted from, and the identifier sits large in the lower corner.
