The field itself

This is Laramie's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Laramie Regional Airport Runway Diagram Print

Laramie Regional draws as one bold X. Two asphalt runways cross near the middle of the sheet, and the print gives them the darkest ink on the page. Runway 03/21 is the long leg, 8503 feet by 150 feet, running from the lower left corner up to the upper right. Runway 12/30 is the shorter one at 6301 feet by 100 feet, falling from the upper left down to the lower right. The ends carry their numbers in small reversed type: 3 and 21 on the long strip, 12 and 30 on the crossing one.

Everything else in the composition is quieter. The taxiway system is rendered in a pale gray that shadows both runways and then gathers into an apron and a cluster of hangar shapes at the top of the frame, slightly right of center. That off-center weight is what keeps the drawing from being a symmetrical logo. Your eye lands on the crossing point, then travels up the connectors to the buildings. The field sits at 7284 feet above sea level, with a magnetic variation of 13E, and the elevation is set in the caption block under the identifier.

Two runways, two surfaces, one intersection: it is a simple geometry, and simple geometry hangs well. The X reads from across a room and rewards a closer look with the taxiway detail. It pairs naturally with other high plains fields, including the diagram for Cheyenne up the interstate, if you are building a wall of places you have actually flown into. The colorway you choose changes the mood more than the shape, since the shape is fixed by the published runway data.

Laramie (LAR) print, common questions

How many runways does Laramie Regional have?

Two. Runway 03/21 measures 8503 feet by 150 feet and runway 12/30 measures 6301 feet by 100 feet, both asphalt in good condition. They cross each other, which is why the print reads as a large X rather than a set of parallel bars.

What is the longest runway at LAR?

Runway 03/21 at 8503 feet long and 150 feet wide. It is the dominant diagonal in the artwork, running corner to corner from the lower left of the frame to the upper right.

Where is LAR and how high is the field?

LAR is the identifier for Laramie Regional in Laramie, Wyoming, at roughly 41.3121 degrees north and 105.6750 degrees west. Field elevation is 7284 feet, and that figure is printed in the caption block beside the coordinates.

How closely does the artwork follow the published layout?

Runway designators, lengths, widths, crossing angle and the general taxiway and apron arrangement are plotted from published airport information for this field. It is a designed diagram rather than a technical chart, so fine details may be simplified or omitted. Things like pavement markings, lighting symbols and minor service roads fall into that category.

Which formats is this Laramie Regional print available in?

Fine Art Print, Framed Fine Art Print, Glossy Metal Print and Digital Download. Physical pieces are made to order in a range of sizes, and the digital option is a file you download and print yourself.

Is this a good gift for a pilot?

It works well for anyone with a connection to this field: student pilots, mountain flying converts, University town alumni, or someone who logged their first high altitude landing here. The identifier and the crossed runways are recognizable at a glance to anyone who has flown into Laramie.
