Stennis International Airport Runway Diagram Print

Stennis International Airport works a single runway, and the print is that one line: 18/36, 8,498 by 150 feet, running north to south down the sheet with the 18 threshold at the top. The field opened for civil use in May 1970, but it goes back to World War II, when it was known as Hancock County Airport and served as an auxiliary training airfield for the Army pilot training school at Gulfport Army Airfield. It was later renamed for John C. Stennis, the Mississippi senator. The airport is owned by the Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission and covers 591 acres, which is why the drawing keeps so much open ground around the pavement: the built area, two aprons and a scatter of hangar footprints, sits off the east side toward the northern half, while the lower two thirds of the diagram is little more than the runway and its taxiway.
