Supplied unframed, with no added white margin, ready for your own frame.

Dimensions

Fine Art Print: 8 x 10, 16 x 20, and 24 x 30 inches.

Made like something you keep.

The field itself

This is Sherman/Denison's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

North Texas Regional Airport Runway Diagram Print

North Texas Regional Airport works a pair of parallel runways, and this print draws both to scale from published field information. Runway 18L/36R is the long one at 9,000 feet by 150 feet, with 18R/36L alongside it at 4,008 feet by 100 feet. That pairing is what gives the sheet its character: two strips on the same heading, one more than twice the length of the other, with open ground running off either side. Both are laid in asphalt and concrete. Field elevation is 749 feet, and the magnetic variation of 3E sits small in the corner the way a chart carries it.

Nine thousand feet is more runway than a county field usually gets, and the reason is Perrin Air Force Base, built here in 1941 and closed in 1971. Grayson County took the property on and ran it as Grayson County Airport before renaming it North Texas Regional in November 2007. The base is still visible across the 1,410 acre site: the Perrin Air Force Base Historical Museum is on the field, Grayson County College occupies several of the old buildings and runs the former base golf course, and the old military control tower went back into operation in mid-2008. Chesley Sullenberger, later the pilot who put an airliner down on the Hudson River, got interested in flying as a young man watching fighters leave this field.

The airport carries two different codes, which is unusual: GYI as its location identifier and PNX as its airline code, because GYI had already gone to an airport in Rwanda. The drawing is simpler than any of that. Two parallel runways at their published lengths, the designators, and the ground between them, composed from published airport information and available field depictions and set on a ground tone you choose. It holds as a clean graphic mark from across a room and rewards a closer look, which makes it a pointed gift for anyone who trained at Perrin or keeps an airplane on the field today.

Sherman/Denison (GYI) print, common questions

How many runways does North Texas Regional Airport have?

Two parallel runways. 18L/36R measures 9,000 feet by 150 feet and 18R/36L measures 4,008 feet by 100 feet. Both are drawn to scale in the print.

How long is the longest runway at GYI?

9,000 feet. That is runway 18L/36R, 150 feet wide, a length the field inherited from its years as an Air Force base.

What is the field elevation at GYI?

749 feet above sea level, printed small in the corner of the diagram alongside the 3E magnetic variation.

Where is GYI, and what was it before?

The airport is in Grayson County, Texas, between Sherman and Denison. It stands on the site of Perrin Air Force Base, built in 1941 and closed in 1971, and it was renamed North Texas Regional Airport in November 2007.

How does the GYI print relate to the airport's layout?

Published airport information and available field depictions guide the GYI composition, including the runway designators and relative geometry. It is original wall art, so fine details may be simplified or omitted.

What sizes and finishes are offered?

Several sizes, as a Fine Art Print, Framed Fine Art Print or Glossy Metal Print (Digital Download available separately), and a range of ground tones so the piece suits the wall it goes on. Physical pieces are made to order with free US shipping.
