The field itself

This is Batesville's own layout, the way its runways run and the taxiways thread between them, composed into a print you will want to look at every day. Not a stock template with a new name on it.

Museum-quality cotton paper

Heavyweight 330 gsm, 100% cotton Hot Press paper, acid-free and archival-grade. Its high color gamut and black density give the runways real depth, and pigment inks keep the fine detail crisp on a smooth matte surface.

Solid wood framing or glossy metal

Frame it in 1.25 inch solid wood, black, white or natural oak, with the white beveled mat, optical-grade clear acrylic and hanging wire included. Or choose glossy metal: dye sublimation into aluminum, floated about 3/4 inch off the wall on a hidden mount.

Batesville Regional Airport Runway Diagram Print

Batesville Regional works two asphalt runways, and the print draws both. Runway 8/26 is the long one at 6,002 by 150 feet, laid across the sheet as a single dark diagonal that starts low on the left and climbs to the right. Runway 18/36 is the short one at 2,804 by 60 feet, standing almost upright near the right edge, close to a right angle against the big strip and reaching down to where the 26 end finishes. Two bars, one long and one short, set against a lot of open paper.

That imbalance is what makes it hang well. Everything built at the field is packed into the top right corner: taxiway loops, a scatter of pale buildings, a row of hangars fanned along a soft curve. From there the ground empties out and the diagonal does the rest of the work, carrying the eye down toward the corner where the identifier sits. Field elevation is 465 feet, printed under the coordinates. Nothing is decorated; the shapes are the airport's own, plotted from published airport information.

The field lies three nautical miles south of the Batesville business district, in Independence County, and is owned by the City of Batesville. It was listed in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011 to 2015 as a general aviation airport, and in 2008 it handled 35,000 aircraft operations, an average of 95 per day. If you are grouping fields across the region, Little Rock and Memphis are composed to the same rules and the same type treatment, so a pair or a row reads as one set rather than three separate prints.

Batesville (BVX) print, common questions

How many runways does Batesville Regional have, and are both on the print?

Two, and both are drawn. Runway 8/26 measures 6,002 by 150 feet and runway 18/36 measures 2,804 by 60 feet. Both surfaces are asphalt.

How long is the main runway at BVX?

Runway 8/26 is 6,002 feet long and 150 feet wide. It is the long diagonal that dominates the composition.

Where is BVX, and how high is the field?

Batesville, Arkansas, in Independence County, about three nautical miles south of the central business district. Field elevation is 465 feet, and that figure is printed on the sheet with the coordinates.

What is BVX?

BVX is the identifier for Batesville Regional Airport. It is set large in the lower corner of the print, above the city, state, coordinates and elevation.

How closely does the artwork follow the published layout?

Runway positions, relative lengths and orientations come from published runway data, so 8/26 and 18/36 sit where and how they sit at the field. It is a designed print, not a navigation document: taxiway edges, small pavement, markings and building outlines are simplified, and fine details may be omitted for legibility at print size.

Does this make a good gift for someone connected to Batesville?

It tends to land well with pilots who trained here, people who keep an aircraft on the field, and anyone who grew up near it. Each one is made to order in a range of sizes, and the colorway you choose sets the mood, so it is easy to match an office wall or a hangar office.
