Dallas Executive Airport Runway Diagram Print

Dallas Executive reads as one long diagonal with a shorter bar dropped through it. Runway 13/31 runs 7,136 feet from the upper left of the sheet down toward the lower right, and runway 17/35 falls straight down the page across 3,800 feet, meeting the diagonal below center. The shorter strip is the wider one, 150 feet against 100 feet, so the two black bars carry noticeably different weights where they cross. It is a small field with one strong gesture, and that gesture is what survives being hung on a wall.

The airport was established in 1944, after the City of Dallas purchased land to serve general aviation needs in the southwest part of the city, and it carried the name Redbird Airport before becoming Dallas Executive in 2002. In 2016 the Commemorative Air Force established its headquarters here, occupying a hangar on the southeast side of the airfield, and that is the busy half of this composition: the gray apron and hangar blocks gather east of the crossing while the western side of the sheet stays open. In 2017 extensive work improved the existing runway, and in 2018 further work extended 13/31 so its safety areas and protection zones sat on airport land.
